CANCELLATION POLICY
How project cancellations, statutory cooling-off rights and work already started are handled.
Last updated: September 17, 2026
This policy explains how a customer may cancel an AWE project or recurring service and how cancellation is handled once work or reserved production time has begun. Mandatory consumer rights always take priority over any conflicting term below.
1. How to cancel
Send a clear written cancellation request to info@americanwebexpress.com and include the customer name, project or invoice reference and the service to be cancelled. Cancellation is effective when AWE receives the request unless a different date is agreed in writing.
2. UK statutory cancellation period
Where the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations apply to a consumer distance-service contract, the consumer will generally have 14 days from the day after the contract is made to cancel without giving a reason. If the consumer expressly requests that AWE starts work during that period, and later cancels before completion, the consumer may be required to pay a proportionate amount for services supplied up to the cancellation date. If the service has been fully performed during the cancellation period after the legally required request and acknowledgement, the statutory right to cancel may end.
3. Before work starts
If cancellation is received before substantive work begins, AWE will stop the project and review any payment for refund under the Return & Refund Policy, subject to applicable statutory rights and any non-cancellable third-party commitment already authorised by the customer.
4. After work starts
After discovery, strategy, design, development, animation, production or another contracted service has begun, AWE will stop further work as reasonably practicable. Completed work, reserved production time and authorised third-party commitments may be taken into account. For eligible subjective-dissatisfaction cases, the AWE 70% satisfaction refund may apply, with 30% retained as described in the Return & Refund Policy.
5. Project inactivity and customer delay
If required feedback, content, access or approvals are materially delayed, AWE may pause the project and revise the schedule. Extended inactivity may require rescheduling or a revised scope where resources must be reallocated. AWE will act reasonably and communicate before imposing any material change.
6. Recurring services and retainers
For recurring services, the applicable proposal will state the billing period and any minimum commitment or notice requirement. A cancellation stops future renewals from the effective cancellation date or next permitted billing point. Charges for services already delivered are not automatically reversed. Any mandatory subscription-cancellation rights in the customer's jurisdiction remain unaffected.
7. Cancellation by AWE
AWE may suspend or end a project for material non-payment, unlawful requests, abusive conduct, serious breach of the agreement or persistent failure to provide essential project inputs. Where AWE terminates without customer breach, AWE will account fairly for prepaid amounts relating to work not supplied, subject to applicable law.
8. United States customers
U.S. cancellation rights vary by state and transaction type. AWE does not waive any non-waivable federal or state consumer right. Where a transaction falls within a specific statutory cooling-off rule, AWE will follow that rule.
